Meet Dr Jarrad Elson

Dr Jarrad Elson joined our team in November of 2012. He was born and raised here on the Eyre Peninsula, growing up and doing most of his schooling in Wudinna before completing Year 12 at St Joseph’s school in Port Lincoln.

Jarrad worked on his three uncles’ oyster farm in his gap year, before moving to Adelaide to complete his Bachelor of Dental Surgery. While studying, Jarrad was fortunate enough to undertake a project with the Adelaide Crows, during which the wisdom teeth of the players were assessed, and a systematic review was carried out to investigate the link between wisdom teeth and jaw fractures in athletes. He was involved in the Dental Students Society, creating three successful pubcrawl shirt designs, and was the editor for the 2011 edition of the annual Probe magazine.

Known for his gentle and friendly nature, Jarrad always does whatever he can to make his patients feel at ease while in the dental chair. He enjoys seeing patients of all ages, including children, for a variety of treatments including preventative checkups, radiographs, cleans, crowns, dentures, root canals, extractions and relieving people of pain.

Jarrad is involved with many aspects of the community. Currently he is President of the Young Tradespeople and Professionals social group, and plays for the Waybacks Football Club. He enjoys sports such as tennis and mixed netball, beach activities, paddleboarding and going on camping trips with friends.

He likes to spend free time playing music on the keyboard, as well as dabbling in guitar and drums, and playing on his new pinball machine. Jarrad also is known for entertaining people with the occasional magic trick. He also enjoys learning and practising Spanish, which he began learning on an extended trip to Costa Rica and Colombia in early 2014.
